CLE: Student Interns and
The Fair Labor Standards Act:

This lecture will focus on the application of the Fair Labor Standards Act to internships.
Student internships are common in many industries and are generally unpaid.
However, the Eleventh Circuit in Schumann, et al v. Collier Anesthesia, et al recently
adopted a new test which could render some interns employees and require them to
receive compensation.  This will benefit attorneys who practice in the area of wage and
hour law specifically as this new guidance changes the analysis we must apply in these
cases, but could have wider application to attorneys who own or manage law firms which
utilize or are considering utilizing student interns.
